I am interested in exploring the impact of technology on the ways that today's students choose to learn and communicate. I'm also interested in the ways that educators are responding to those developments. I worked for 25 years as a classroom teacher, art teacher, arts administrator, and school media specialist. Now I am an educational writer and trainer, with emphasis on technology inclusion and mulitple literacy learning. My aim is to help today's teachers to find ways to "work smarter" in order to infuse education with a rigorous, relevant, creative approach to teaching the core disciplines. I spoke about my work in this area at CIL 2006. Afterwards, a high school teacher from Pennsylvania came up to me and said "My principal wants me to teach this way, but I don't know how! Have you ever thought of writing a book?" So I did! My new book, entitled Engaging the Eye Generation, published by Stenhouse, spells out the inclusion of technology and multiple literacy learning, with emphasis on visual literacy.
